Aloo Tikki Chaat

Ingredients


FOR ALOO TIKKI:


2 boiled potato, peeled & mashed

½ tsp kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder

¼ tsp turmeric / haldi

2 tbsp cornflour

½ tsp garam masala

½ tsp amchur / dry mango powder

4 tsp oil, for roasting

¼ tsp chaat masala

½ tsp ginger-garlic paste

Salt to taste




FOR CHAAT (1 SERVING):


2 tbsp curd/yogurt

1 tbsp green chutney

1 tbsp tamarind chutney

Pinch of kashmiri red chilli powder / lal mirch powder

1 tbsp onion, finely chopped

1 tbsp tomato, finely chopped

Handful of sev

Pinch of roasted cumin powder / jeera powder pinch of chaat masala

Pinch of salt



Method:


  1. Firstly, in a large mixing bowl take 2 boiled potato and mash them.

  2. Add in ½ tsp chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp garam masala, ½ tsp aamchur, ¼ tsp chaat masala, ¼ tsp salt and ½ tsp ginger-garlic paste.

  3. Add 2 tbsp corn flour and combine well.

  4. Grease hand with oil and prepare small patties.

  5. Roast on hot tawa with oil.

  6. Fry the patties either deep fry or shallow fry it (according to preference). I shallow fried it.

  7. Place the prepared tikki in a plate.

  8. Top with 2 tbsp curd / yogurt.

  9. Spread 1 tbsp green chutney, 1 tbsp tamarind chutney, pinch of chilli powder and salt.

  10. Top with 1 tbsp chopped onion and tomato.

  11. Garnish with handful of fine sev, pinch of cumin powder, chaat masala and coriander leaves.

  12. Serve aloo tikki chaat or can have crispy crunchy aloo tikki also as a starter.


PS: I also added chana masala (in bengali we call it 'ghugni'). It is an optional addition and recipe will be coming soon.
